18th Case - [Voice]

[Voice - February 13]

Would any of you consider chocolate to be too cliche of a gift on Valentine's day?  [She really shouldn't be asking the day before Valentine's day but whatever.] I realize that it is practically tradition to give a loved one chocolate of some kind--at least back home it had been--but is that truly the best gift to offer?

[It's not something she'd consider original or all that special... but that might be just her]

What would you consider to be special and unique as a gift for Valentine's Day?  What would you personally want?  A card?  A rose?  Anything in particular at all? [She just wants some ideas for her present]

[Voice - Filtered to Roxas - February 14]

Do you have some time to spare today, Roxas-kun?  I-I have something for you...

It sounds like a question with a truckload of difficulty behind it. Don't worry, once you actually get started, that difficulty will undoubtedly disappear.

['Take it from someone who knows, after... strange that I can't quite remember, actually, but in any case, my lovely companions.']

If I were so lucky as to be in your position, I suppose I would just try to think of something with personal meaning and then pair it with something completely conventional, like chocolate.

[Ah, but why would he want to, after all, when it's so much more fun to fluster the 'guy'.]

Right. I wish you the best of luck with her.

[but way cooler, right]

['...Oh, is he gay?

Well, that's cool too, I guess. Though the buying a dress option is probably less appealing. What do I know about gay presents? Whatever.'

Oh, um, him or her, whatever.

['On the other hand, it would be worse if it was a guy that I thought was a girl. Far worse.

And really, what do these things matter at a time of unabashed enjoyment in this world, anyway? So I got someone's gender wrong. It's not like I'm a veterinarian charged with being right about these things! Or that she's a pet. Really, no harm, no foul.

It's not really my fault anyway, considering! He--Er, she goes to some serious lengths to disguise this fact about her, it would seem. Serious or at least considerable. Well, that or there isn't much "development" there. But that's a weird thing to think about first thing after you realize a guy is actually a girl. Isn't it?

Or is it actually the most natural thing to think about?

...Well, this pause is probably getting awkward.'

[And so, cheekily:]

Doesn't mean you can't be interested in dating a girl, surely. This has been confirmed to me several times here.

...Well, that's one way to say "most people are straight," I guess.

Anyway, sorry, Shirogane-san. You're right, I didn't realize.
