5th Case - [Action/Voice] - AU

[Now back in her home, Naoto strangely finds that several of her detective books are missing from her room so she walks to her father's room and knocks on the door]

Father? Do you know where my novels are? I'm missing a few of them.

[Today she had been planning to invite Kouki to cherry tree hill to read with her. Not exactly the most romantic thing out there but she thought she'd ask. Plus the other day she offered to lend Kouki a few of her books to read.

She walks back to her room and brings out the books she has, placing them on the table in the living room.]

[Filtered Voice - Kouki]

Kouki? Um...I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me to the cherry trees this afternoon...

[Missing books? Why is he not surprised, after a Shift like that?]

... Which novels are missing?

I'm missing...Zero no Shouten.

[She runs her fingers along the spines of the books, trying to figure out what others are missing]

Have you checked your brother's room?

[Souji has been known to take pudding that wasn't his. Who knows what else he could snatch from his siblings?]

...No, I haven't checked his room yet.

[And with that she walks right on into Souji's room, knocking before she did though. She looks through his books thoroughly]

[He'll be here, waiting for her response. But in the meantime, he decides to make himself useful and see if there's any novels lying around in the living room.]

[She blinks when she comes across a familiar title and pulls it from its place in the bookshelf. Yep, defiantly one of the books]

I found one!

[He looks up idly at that.]

Good, good. Where was it?

It was in Souji's room, in his bookshelf.

[She walks out of his room and flips through the pages to make sure none of them are ripped. If they are she'll be sure to pay Souji a visit later]

[He'd lecture Souji about this sort of thing, but for all he knows it was a mistake. It's best if Naoto handles this herself.]

Are you missing any more?

Yes, there are a few others but I didn't see them in Souji's room.

[She places the book along with the others she took out of her room]

[He glances around one last time.]

They don't seem to be in the living room either.

[She frowns]

Do you think Ange would have borrowed them?

Without permission? That doesn't sound like her.

I suppose not. [Where could they be then? Martel couldn't have taken them...she's not interested in that sort of thing.]

Perhaps they were misplaced in the last Shift. [Because if people could be scattered throughout the village, why not objects?]

That wouldn't surprise me. [She sighs a little. Guess she'll have to go and try to find them or get some new ones]

[A nearly inaudible sigh.] Let me know if you've lost anything else. We'll need to look into replacing that.

[It'll probably come out of Yuan's wallet, but he secretly enjoys giving his kids presents from time to time.]

[She nods, not really wanting to bother Yuan with these things. She doesn't like him spending too much money on her, even if its for necessities]

I will, thank you Father..

Sure, I'd like to, Naoto.

Alright! [She smiles] I'm collecting a few things so if you'd like to meet me there, that's fine.

Okay, I'll meet you there. [Hm, maybe he'll take a quick detour for snacks.] I'll be seeing you later.

[It's going to take her a while to find the rest of the books she wants to bring with her. Yuan even helps her but in the end she decides to bring 4 books, that should be enough right?

In any case, she makes her way to the cherry trees with the books held to her chest]

[Kouki's already there, sitting under a tree with some snacks he brought along, ones that would appeal to Naoto's tastes. He thought it'd be nice.]

[Once she sees Kouki under the tree, she walks a bit faster then stops when she stands next to him]

I'm sorry for taking so long. [She sits herself down next to him, placing the books down on her lap and smiles when she sees the snacks]

[He smiles when he see her.]

It's alright. [He looks at the books, curiously.] Those are the books, Naoto?

[She nods and hands him the book on top]

Yes, but unfortunately I wasn't able to find several. [She frowns a little]

[He glance at the title.] The Shift probably moved them around.

I wouldn't doubt it...I just hope I can find them again.

[She hesitates for a moment before leaning slightly against Kouki's shoulder]

You will.

[He smiles when he feels it.]

[She nods, blushing a bit as she snuggles close to him]

I'm sorry if this isn't the most exciting meeting...

But we're spending time together, so I think I can brave it.

Are you sure?

[She frowns slightly, not wanting him to be bored or anything]

I'm sure. But we can always do something.

What would you like to do?

Hm...let's take a walk together.

A walk? O-Okay. [She smiles, blushing a bit]

[Standing up, he hold out a hand for her.]

[She takes his hand with a brighter blush and pulls herself up, but doesn't let go]

Thank you..

No problem. Let's go, Naoto.

Alright. [She smiles a little as she starts to walk forward, still holding Kouki's hand]
