10th Case - [Voice]/[Action] - Backdated to June 20th

[There isn't much to hear when the journal first turns on just the wind blowing and the soft rustling of the grass surrounding it. Eventually a familiar voice comes up on the other end of the journal, though it's quiet]

...I'm...alive...[a pause] ...why...?

[It's been a few hours since the fight between Naoto and Vanitas ended so it's around evening time now.

If anyone happens to come across Naoto, in the forest to the west of the village, she'll be sitting up and leaning against a tree instead of lying on the ground like she was before. With her body as sore as it is, it's relatively difficult for her to move very far.

The blood staining her left side continues to come from the obvious gash in her shoulder though not as badly as before. She's looking up towards the sky and two nice little bruises can be seen on both sides of her jaw from the pressure Vanitas was applying there to knock her out.

Her hat also seems to be missing, probably blew off while she was out cold. Perhaps you'll find it on the way to her?]

[She had the scolding and disapproving looks coming. Unfortunately she doesn't think too much about the available options when it comes to serious stuff like this, pretty rash.]

Yes, I did. [Sigh] I realize it wasn't the best idea.

[As a way of light scolding. He barely knows Naoto, so he can't say much besides the obvious criticism and/or lecture that anyone would give. Anyone as critical as him.]

Do you believe exacting revenge would have appeased you? Or your friend, for that matter.

[She nods to his first statement then pauses for a moment to think about his question. She isn't one for revenge but still it can be seen as necessary...]

It would have brought us no satisfaction. If Vanitas was killed he would only return within a weeks time and resumed his actions.

[One of those types who doesn't learn. He glances at Naoto. If Vanitas were to die and come back, would she do the same thing again?]

How severely was your friend injured?

['Nuff said, right?]

[Way more than enough. There's a slight pause on Hubert's part.]

Yes, only one.

[As much as it makes her feel slightly relieved that Vanitas didn't tear off the other one as well, it still makes her cringe when she remembers Sora's scream]

[Well. One is still more than enough in this case. He shouldn't have said "only," now that he thinks about it.

Either way . . . ]

He must have survived, then. Do you know how he's faring?

He did, but I am unaware of his condition at this point. Last time I saw him was when he was first injured...

[She frowns and turns her gaze to the ground. Maybe she should check up on him...]

[The way she trails off, he can guess what she's thinking.]

You can check up on him after you've had yourself looked at. I imagine that's what he would want, as well.

I may do that...

[Why hello again drowsy feeling. She sways slightly and places a hand on her forehead. Even though he healed her, she's still pretty weak.]

[He stops walking. Though he doesn't say anything, the careful look he's giving her should be indicative that he's willing to help or wait as much or long as she desires. Finally,]

Shall we rest?

N-No, I'm fine.

[Stubborn as always. But as she goes to take another step forward, her legs give out from under her and she falls on her knees] ...Perhaps a short rest...

[Hubert is instantly crouched by her side when she falls. Mentally, he shakes his head at himself: He should have caught her.]

Rest. I will heal you again.

[It should improve her condition a bit more, at the least.]

[She shakes her head and puts a hand up, the other resting on her leg to hold her up]

No...there's no need. I'll be fine....

[He pauses and gives her a long look, before standing up and crossing his arms.]

If you're certain.

[She's true to her word about the rest being short because a moment later, she forces herself to stand up even though her legs are telling her to sit back down. Too stubborn to listen though]

Let's continue.. [Walking forward]

He falls back into pace. As they walk, he remembers their last and first conversation before this encounter.]

Have you made contact with Nala yet?

[Oh right, she was supposed to be talking to her wasn't she?]

Unfortunately no. I've been too caught up in planning to go after Vanitas...

[A part of him just hopes she doesn't go after Vanitas again.]

You can work on establishing contact once you've recovered, then.

[She wants to go after him again but now that everyone knows what she did, they're more than likely going to keep her from doing so.]

I may try speaking with her as I'm recovering...[It'll give her something to do]

[During her recovery -- that's a good idea. And it'd keep her occupied. Prevent her from thinking more on the failed revenge attempt than she needs to.]

That would be efficient, seeing as how she should be accessible regardless of the location.

[Or so he read. He hasn't actually tried it, himself.]

[Just a nod as she focuses on the path in front of her. Well-more like focusing on how to get her gun back. Sure it's replaceable just like any other gun but this one is special.

But it something does occur to her] How did you learn to use your healing abilities...?

[Since they're on the topic of filial magic, he first works on clearing a possible misconception.]

[Though it's significantly weaker here when it was already not that strong to begin with . . . As for the exact how . . . ]
