[Voice]

[There isn't much to hear when the journal first turns on just the wind blowing and the soft rustling of the grass surrounding it. Eventually a familiar voice comes up on the other end of the journal, though it's quiet]

...I'm...alive...[a pause] ...why...?

[Action]

[It's been a few hours since the fight between Naoto and Vanitas ended so it's around evening time now.

If anyone happens to come across Naoto, in the forest to the west of the village, she'll be sitting up and leaning against a tree instead of lying on the ground like she was before. With her body as sore as it is, it's relatively difficult for her to move very far.

The blood staining her left side continues to come from the obvious gash in her shoulder though not as badly as before. She's looking up towards the sky and two nice little bruises can be seen on both sides of her jaw from the pressure Vanitas was applying there to knock her out.

Her hat also seems to be missing, probably blew off while she was out cold. Perhaps you'll find it on the way to her?]

[She doesn't really look everything over when making choices like that so to her that was the only option.

What exactly did Sora-kun do to make Vanitas look like him?

[He frowns. Truth is, Ven... still doesn't have the clearest idea why. But Roxas looks like him too, so...]

I don't think it's anything Sora did. More like... something I did.

Something you did..? [So it isn't because Sora helped Ven somehow?]

I dunno. Maybe it's both of us. Vanitas exists because of me, since he's my darkness.

But if he looks like Sora and Roxas looks like me, there's gotta be some connection.

[Sora helped alright, but Ven still hasn't gotten the whole story.]

Maybe... [But is it really that simple? He did lose all his memories when they split apart, and his heart was so incomplete.]

I wouldn't doubt it at this rate. There are too many similarities between you four to ignore it...

[Incomplete heart... And Vanitas has Sora's face. And then there's the fact that he saw Xion as himself for a while.]

I wonder if it's got anything to do with my heart. And maybe his too.

Care to elaborate..? [A lot of things seem to revolve around hearts in their world..(s)]

I'm just thinking that if our hearts were connected somehow, it'd explain a lot of things.

That would make sense...[If Roxas is Sora's Nobody and Vanitas is Ven's darkness then the main connection must be through Ven and Sora]

Vanitas told me Sora-kun helped you...what did he help you with?

[Sora helped him? Did he really...?

Give him a minute while he tries to sort this out.]

I really don't know. The problem is, I can't remember anything from before my heart got split except for a few small things. If Sora helped me, it was probably before or right after Vanitas was made.

I think so.

I remember what happened before Vanitas was created, and then a couple of random flashes. Back when my heart was still healing. And I think... Master Xehanort might've taken me to an island before I met my friends.

[But what does it all mean? He's scratching his head, trying to find the answers.]

I was really weak when I first came to live with Master Eraqus. Probably from the split. But... something changed. I got better somehow. Maybe Sora's the reason.

[She kinda remembers Sora drawing this island a while back, saying it was his home. Could that have been the island?]

If your heart was connected to Sora-kun's by the time you went to live with...Master Eraqus, then it's possible. Was that island your other Master took you to, Sora-kun's home..?

It could've been. The memory's really faint, so...

[It's hard to say. And Sora's drawing only gives him a vague idea.]

I see.. [ ... ] I apologize...have I been asking too much?

It's okay. I just haven't thought about it that much.

[Which is what makes it so confusing, really.]

Is it a subject you tend to try and avoid?

No, it's not that. I just never thought about any of that before I came here. Even though I lost my memories, I focused more on making new ones.

I suppose that makes sense...perhaps in some cases, it's best to not dwell over what has been lost.

Yeah. And it never crossed my mind 'til me and Vanitas started fighting here. I was happy being with my friends; that's all that mattered.

Have you interacted with Vanitas before you arrived here?

Yeah. He's the one who told me that my friend Terra'd become a different person. That's why I left home, even if I wasn't supposed to.

And then the two of us fought in the badlands. [And he almost died. Yep.]
